Belarus’ companies report 9.3% increase in effective debts in Jan-Jun 2020 to Br145.2bn

The total debt of Belarusian enterprises amounted to Br145.2 billion ($54.8 billion at the rate of the National Bank of Belarus), up 9.3% year on year as of January 1, 2020, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> This includes an overdue debt in the amount of Br10.344 billion ($3.906bn) as of July 1, 2020, which decreased by 5.8% since early 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Accounts payable totalled Br57.319 billion ($21.644bn) as of July 1, 2020, up 5.1% year on year. Overdue accounts payable amounted to Br7.913 billion ($2.988bn) as of July 1, 2020, down 0.1%. </p> <p> </p> <p> Debts under credits increased by 12.2% in Jan-Jun 2020 to Br87.881 billion ($33.184bn) as of July 1, 2020. Debts in arrears totalled Br2.431 billion ($0.918bn), down 20.5% year on year. According to Belstat, Br35.601 billion ($13.443bn, 26.9% of revenue) were allocated for repayment of bank loans and loans to Belarusian enterprises in H1 2020, up 14.3% yoy. </p> <p> </p> <p> Accounts receivable of Belarusian enterprises as of July 1, 2020 amounted to Br46.488 billion ($17.554bn), up 12.4% year on year. Overdue receivables increased 6.8% to Br8.494 billion ($3.207bn) as of July 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belstat says that 76.8% of Belarusian companies had overdue receivables as of July 1, 2020 (75.6% as of Jan 1, 2020), and 63.4% had overdue accounts payable (62.1% as of Jan 1, 2020). </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the total debt of Belarusian enterprises in 2019 increased by 7.4% to Br132.8 billion ($50.1 billion) as of January 1, 2019, including overdue – down 2% to Br10.976 billion ($4.145 billion).
