Belarus closes borders for entering natural persons through ground crossings from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine

Belarus has closed its borders on October 29 for certain categories of individuals willing to enter the Belarusian territory from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine by means land border crossing points. Belarus’ Border Committee posted a statement to this effect on its telegram channel on the evening of October 29. </p> <p>   </p> <p> The message does not specify which categories of individuals face restrictions on entry. </p> <p>   </p> <p> At the same time, the Border Committee points out that the restrictions do not include employees of diplomatic missions and consular offices, which are holders of diplomatic and service passports, drivers of vehicles designed for international road transport, train crews engaged in international railway communication. </p> <p>   </p> <p> The official explanation of the situation on the border refers to “the current epidemic situation in neighbouring countries”. </p> <p>   </p> <p> Belarusian telegram channels wrote that the land border was closed to all individuals, including Belarusian citizens, from lunchtime on October 29. In the evening, citizens were allowed to enter. </p> <p>   </p> <p> The border with Russia remains open. </p> <p>   </p> <p> The border crossing point at the Minsk National Airport operates without restrictions. </p> <p>   </p> <p> In the afternoon of October 29, Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko expressed concern about border security and promised to take measures to protect the borders of the Baltic States, Poland and Ukraine.
