Belarus Central Securities Depository sends first message using SWIFT
<p> MINSK, Feb 18 - PrimePress. The state-owned enterprise “Republican Central Securities Depository of Belarus” on February 15, 2021 sent its first message using the SWIFT financial messaging system, the Belarusian company said in an official press-release on Feb 18. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The new edition of the agreement on correspondent relations with the National Settlement Depository (NSD, Russia) came into force on 15 February 2021. It stipulates a new mode of interaction using SWIFT, the international inter-bank system for transmitting information and making payments. On the same day they started using the SWIFT system for servicing the NSD correspondent account with the Central Securities Depository of the Republic of Belarus for sending depository messages in the prescribed formats,” the company said. </p> <p> </p> <p> The move fits into the context of creating a common financial market of the Eurasian Economic Union member states, the press service of the depository said. </p> <p> </p> <p> The NSD is the central securities depository of the Russian Federation, which provides depository and cash settlement services, as well as repository, information and liquidity management services, and maintenance services. </p> <p> </p> <p> SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications) is an international interbank information and payment system. It enables financial institutions (banks, investment companies, custodians, settlement and clearing organizations) worldwide to send and receive information about financial transactions. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Central Securities Depository of Belarus services correspondent depository accounts of 28 second-tier depositories, more than 20,000 depository accounts of issuers and depositors, including the Ministry of Finance and the Belarus Development Bank. The Central Securities Depository of Belarus has established correspondent relations with depositories of Russian, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan. End </p>
