Belarus’ cell phone import remained unchanged year on year in Jan-Sep 2020 to 1.558 million ($233.6 million, up 5% year on year in value terms), according to preliminary customs statistics data. </p> <p> </p> <p> China accounted for 68% of Belarus’ cell phone import in Jan-Sep 2020, while the share of Russia stood at 29%. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus mostly imports inexpensive phones. However, in comparison with the 2018-2019 data, the average price of officially imported cell phones is on the rise. This may result from the use of alternative schemes of import of cheaper phones (purchases from foreign online stores), and affordable credit offers from mobile operators and in retail chains. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus’ cell phone import decreased 11% on the year in 2019 to 2.277 million.
