Belarus’ car import up 0.6% to 35,689 units in H1 2021
<p> MINSK, Aug 19 - PrimePress. Belarus’ imports of passenger cars grew by 0.6% year on year in Jan-Jun 2021 to 35,689 units, in value terms - up 12% to $483.692 million, according to official statistics. </p> <p> </p> <p> Imports of cars from the Russian Federation in January-June 2021 decreased by 9.8% on January-June 2020 to 19,355 units, in value terms - by 1.3% to $269.412 million. Imports from Russia accounted for 54.2% of total car imports in H1 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> In January-June 2021, car imports by individuals from countries other than member states of the Eurasian Economic Union increased by 21.7% up to 15,109 units, in monetary terms - up 56.5% to $174.061 million. Their share in the total volume of imports is 42.3%. </p> <p> </p> <p> The pace of imports of cars by individuals remains higher than the official imports, thanks, among other things, to preferential customs clearance for disabled people and families with many children under presidential ordinance #140, as well as zero customs duty on electric cars. </p> <p> </p> <p> For instance, imports of cars from Germany by legal entities in January-June 2021 increased by 46.2% year on year to 269 units worth $12.107 million (+53.8%); from China - up 5.8 times to 162 units worth $978,800 (4.4 times more); from Mexico - up 51.7% to 176 units worth $2.458 million (2.2 times more), from the USA - down 41.1% to 218 units worth $12.451 million (minus 31%). </p> <p> </p> <p> Imports of passenger cars to Belarus fell by 30% year on year in 2020 to 69,305 units, in monetary terms - down 27% to $898.5 million.
