Belarus’ broad money supply down 2% in Oct 2020 to Br49.371bn

Belarus’ broad money supply decreased by 2% month on month in October 2020 to Br49.371 billion ($19.2bn) as of November 1, 2020, Belarus’ monetary authorities said in an online report. </p> <p> </p> <p> Deposits in foreign exchange decreased by 1.5% in Oct 2020 to Br28.658 billion ($11.16bn) as of Nov 1, 2020. The proportion of deposits in foreign exchange was at 58.05% as of Nov 1, 2020 against 57.75% as of Oct 1, 2020 and 55.51% as of Jan 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Of the total money supply, cash in circulation (M0 aggregate) increased by 0.3% month on month in Oct 2020 to Br4.021 billion ($1.56bn) as of Nov 1, 2020. The proportion of cash in circulation made up 8.14% as of Nov 1, 2020 against 7.96% as of Oct 1, 2020 and 7.64% as of Jan 1, 2020 </p> <p> </p> <p> M1 aggregate, which includes cash and current Belarusian ruble deposits with banks, decreased by 3.2% month on month in Oct 2020 to Br9.318 billion ($3.6bn) as of Nov 1, 2020. M1 aggregate accounted for 18.87% of broad money supply as of Nov 1, 2020 (19.1% as of Oct 1, 2020, 21.18% as of Jan 1, 2020). </p> <p> </p> <p> Ruble money supply (M2* aggregate), which includes M1 and fixed-period ruble securities outside bank circulation, increased by 3.4% month on month in Oct 2020 to Br19.165 billion ($7.5bn).
