Belarus banks’ profits up 80% in Jan-Jun 2021 to Br762.5m

Belarusian banks’ total balance sheet profit amounted to Br762.5 million as of July 1, 2021, or U.S. $305 million at the official rate of the central bank, up 80% on the year, the National Bank of Belarus said in a statistical report. </p> <p> </p> <p> Banks’ regulatory capital stood at Br13.318 billion ($5.33bn) as of July 1, 2021, up 8.9% month on month and 17.6% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> Capital adequacy ratio stood at 18.3% as of July 1, 2021, to compare with 17.2% as of Jan 1, 2021 and 16.8% as of July 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Return on equity of Belarusian commercial banks was at 11% as of July 1, 2021, to compare with 8.9% as of Jan 1, 2021 (9.5% as of July 1, 2020). </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarusian banks’ assets stood at Br90.368 billion ($36.15bn) as of July 1, 2021, down 0.2% year to date (up 5.6% month on year). </p> <p> </p> <p> Return on assets stood at 1.5% as of July 1, 2021 (1.1% as of Jan 1, 2021; 1.3% as of July 1, 2020). </p> <p> </p> <p> As of July 1, 2021, the total value of non-performing loans (NPL) amounted to Br3.465 billion ($1.39bn), up 0.2% year to date and 4% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> Provisions for assets exposed to credit risk reduced by 1.9% year to date in Jan-Jun 2021 to Br4.667 billion ($1.87bn) as of July 1, 2021, up 7.5% year on year.
