MINSK, Jan 20 - PrimePress. Belarus reduced the supply of aviation fuel to Ukraine in January-December 2020 almost 4-fold compared with January-December 2019 to 18,600 tonnes, еnkorr reports, citing Ukrainian A-95 Consulting Group.
Belarus did not supply aviation fuel to Ukraine in April, June, August and September 2020. Supply decreased in November and December 2020 to 200 and 100 tonnes, respectively.
Ukrainian experts attribute the decline to the actual withdrawal of the largest buyer–Baltic Grand Service–from the domestic market and aggressive pricing policy of Ukrtatnafta, which has an excessive stock of kerosene, and is building up its presence at Ukrainian airports.
Ukraine’s aviation fuel market capacity in 2020 halved from 2019 to 244,000 tonnes. The import of aviation fuel decreased in 2020 by 48% year on year to 136,700 tonnes.
The sharp decline in the market was a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the Ukrainian government imposed restrictions on passenger flights from March 17 to June 15, 2020 as part of pandemic response measures. Ukraine has not resumed air flights in full so far. End
