Belarus’ average wage up 3.1% in Jul 2020 to Br1,287.5

Belarus’ average wage in nominal terms stood at 1,287.,5 Belarusian rubles (Br) in July 2020, or U.S. $503.8 at the monthly average rate of the National Bank, up 3.1% month on month, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> In real terms (adjusted for the increase in consumer prices), the average monthly wage grew by 8% year on year in Jul 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Regionally, Minsk led in May with the average wage of Вr1,776.6 ($684.3), up 1.6% month on month. Minsk Oblast reported Br1,320.9 ($516.9) up 7.1%; Gomel Oblast – Br1,149.8 ($450), up 3.7%; Mogilev Oblast – Br1,057.2 ($413.7), up 2.3%; Vitebsk Oblast – Br1,083.6 ($424), up 0.8%; Brest Oblast – Br1,114.5 ($436.1) up 2.8%; Grodno Oblast – Br1,112 ($435.2), up 4.1%. </p> <p> </p> <p> In Jul 2020, the average wage in manufacturing industries stood at Br1,332.9 ($521.6), up 5.6% month on month; construction – Br1,452.7 ($568.5), up 1.8%; forestry, fishery and agriculture – Br995.2 ($389.5), up 8%; retail trade – Br1,032.3 ($404), up 2.9%; education – Br869.7 ($340.3) down 5.4%; healthcare – Br1,177.6 ($460.8), down 5.4%. </p> <p> </p> <p> To compare, the average monthly wage in Belarus’ IT industry in Jul 2020 stood at Br5,171.6 ($2,024), up 6.7% month on month; banking and finance – Br1,868.8 ($731.3), up 1.5%.
