Belarus’ average wage up 1.6% in Oct 2020 to Br1.285

Belarus’ average wage in nominal terms stood at 1,285 Belarusian rubles (Br) in October 2020, or U.S. $503.7 at the monthly average rate of the National Bank, up 1.6% month on month, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> In real terms (adjusted for the increase in consumer prices), the average monthly wage grew by 6.6% year on year in Oct 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Regionally, Minsk led in Oct with the average wage of Вr1,806.1 ($707.9), up 1.4% month on month. Minsk Oblast reported Br1,299.4 ($509.3), up 4.8%; Gomel Oblast – Br1,130.8 ($443.2), down 0.05%; Mogilev Oblast - Br1,046.8 ($410.3), up 1%; Vitebsk Oblast - Br1,069.5 ($419.2), up 0.8%; Brest Oblast - Br1,100.6 ($431.4), up 1.1%; Grodno Oblast - Br1,114.6 ($436.9), up 1.1%. </p> <p> </p> <p> In Oct 2020, the average wage in manufacturing industries stood at Br1,361.9 ($533.8), up 2.5% month on month; construction – Br1,442.4 ($565.3), down 0.9%; forestry, fishery and agriculture – Br941.3 ($368.9), down 2.2%; retail trade – Br1,007.1 ($394.7), up 0.3%; education – Br867.5 ($340) up 1.9%; health care – Br1,188.5 ($465.8), up 7.6%. </p> <p> </p> <p> To compare, the average monthly wage in Belarus’ IT industry in Oct 2020 stood at Br5,488.6 ($2,151), down 0.3% month on month; banking and finance – Br1,766.6 ($692.4), up 4.2%.
