Belarus’ average wage up 13.4% in Dec 2020 to Br1,474.6

Belarus’ average wage in nominal terms stood at 1,474.6 Belarusian rubles (Br) in December 2020, or U.S. $578.8 at the monthly average rate of the National Bank, up 13.4% month on month, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> In real terms (adjusted for the increase in consumer prices), the average monthly wage grew by 10.2% year on year in Dec 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Regionally, Minsk led in Dec with the average wage of Вr2,151.2 ($844.4), up 17% month on month. Minsk Oblast reported Br1,427.1 ($560.2), up 10%; Gomel Oblast – Br1,263.4 ($495.9), up 10.7%; Mogilev Oblast - Br1,176 ($495.9), up 10.4%; Vitebsk Oblast - Br1,213.7 ($476.4), up 12.4%; Brest Oblast - Br1,289 ($506), up 15.3%; Grodno Oblast - Br1,274.7 ($500.4), up 13%. </p> <p> </p> <p> In Dec 2020, the average wage in manufacturing industries stood at Br1,544.5 ($606.3), up 14.4% month on month; construction – Br1,546.6 ($607.1), up 7.9%; forestry, fishery and agriculture – Br977.6 ($383.8), up 2.9%; retail trade – Br1,157.5 ($454.4), up 14.7%; education – Br990.6 ($388.9) up 11.5%; health care – Br1,446 ($567.6), up 6.9%. </p> <p> </p> <p> To compare, the average monthly wage in Belarus’ IT industry in Dec 2020 stood at Br6,270.3 ($2,461), up 11.9% month on month; banking and finance – Br2,731.6 ($1,072), up 59.2%.
