Belarus’ annual inflation slows down amid regulatory decisions and offset global food price shocks - MART

Belarus’ annual inflation slowdown is due to the measures taken in the field of monetary and pricing policy as well as to gradual smoothing of global food price shocks. The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) of Belarus made a statement to this effect in a commentary on the price situation in the consumer market in July 2021. The commentary is published on the MART website. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the growth in consumer prices slowed down to 9.8% in July 2021 from 9.9% in June 2021, growth of prices of socially important goods - to 7.7% from 8.6% in June 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the National Statistical Committee of Belarus (Belstat), Belarus’ inflation stood at 0.1% in July 2021 and 5.9% in January-July. In July 2021, prices increased by 9.8% year on year, while in January-July 2021 - by 8.9% yoy. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, in 2020, Belarus’ inflation was at 7.4%, with the official forecast standing at 5%. The inflation forecast for 2021 is also not more than 5%. End </p>
