Belarus’ annual inflation accelerates to 9.9% in Jun 2021, core inflation – 10.1%

Annual inflation in Belarus accelerated to 9.9% in June 2021, while core inflation sped up to 10.1%, reads the monthly inflation review released by the National Bank of Belarus (NBB).<br> <br> As previously reported, inflation in Belarus was 0.7% in Jun 2021, Jan-Jun – 5.8%. <br> <br> Consumer prices rose in Jun 2021 by 9.9% year on year (9.4% yoy in May 2021; 8.6% in Apr 2021).<br> <br> Core inflation increased to 10.1% in Jun 2021; 9.3% yoy in May 2021; 8.5% in Apr 2021.<br> <br> The increase in administered prices and tariffs stood at 9.6% in Jun 2021; 9.4% yoy in May 2021; 9% yoy in Apr 2021.<br> <br> Seasonal prices (fruits and vegetables) increased by 8.6% year on year in Jun 2021 to compare with 11.7% in May 2021 and 9.5% yoy in Apr 2021. <br> <br> The year-on-year aggregate trend inflation rate was at 8.5% yoy in Jun 2021; 7.8% yoy in May 2021; 7.1% yoy in Apr 2021.<br> <br> In Jun 2021, the maximum and minimum growth rates of free prices and tariffs in annual terms were, in particular, minus 0.3% as regards wheat flour; +1.5% - hotel services; +2.7% - pasta; +3% - black tea; +3.2% - lease payment for one-bedroom apartment; +17.7% - carpets and tapestries; +19.4% - eggs; +20.8% - oil and fats; +21.5% - unregulated passenger transportation; +30.8% - mayonnaise.<br> <br> The maximum and minimum annual growth rates of regulated prices and tariffs in Jun 2021 were, in particular, +1.3% for higher education services; +4.1% - telecommunication services; +5.7% - funeral arrangements; +12.1% - fuels; +12.8% - passenger car insurance services; +20.8% - home security services; +22.6% - medicines.
