Belarus adjusts budget-2020 towards 9% reduction in revenues, 5.4% reduction in expenditures

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko adjusted the national budget targets for 2020 by reducing budget revenues by 9% to 22.229 billion Belarusian rubles ($8.609 billion at the rate of National Bank of Belarus) and expenditures by 5.4% to Br24.039 billion ($9.31 billion). This is stipulated by presidential decree No.507 of December 30, 2020 posted on the National Legal Internet Portal on January 6, 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> As a result, the initially planned national budget deficit in 2020 increased by 82% to Br1.81 billion ($0.7 billion). </p> <p> </p> <p> The biggest revenue losses in 2020 were put in the profit tax item (profit tax revenues were reduced by Br1.055 billion or $408.6 million) and tax revenues fr om foreign economic activity item (down by Br877 million or $339.6 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> Budget expenditures were reduced mainly due to a reduction in transfer to the extra-budgetary state fund for social protection by Br690 million ($267 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> The president also raised the lim it on domestic public debt in 2020 by 15% to 10.9 billion Belarusian rubles ($4.2 billion).
