Armenia calls for stripping Turkey of EEU tariff preferences
<p> MINSK, Oct 22 - PrimePress. Armenia has turned to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) with a proposal to exclude a number of countries, including Turkey, from the list of users of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) unified system of tariff preferences. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Armenian government issued a press service to this effect on October 22. </p> <p> </p> <p> The press service specified that in accordance with Article 36 of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union, EEU member states provide tariff preferences in respect of goods produced and imported into the customs territory of the Union from developing and least developed countries. </p> <p> </p> <p> The list of countries in the unified system of tariff preferences of the Eurasian Economic Union was approved by a decision of the Customs Union Commission in 2009. At present, 103 countries benefit from preferences. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Armenian authorities accuse Turkey of direct participation in the escalation of the Karabakh conflict on the side of Azerbaijan, as well as the delivery of mercenaries from the Middle East to the region.
