Absolutbank suspends certain transactions with individuals since Aug 16
<p> MINSK, Aug 18 - PrimePress. Starting 16 Aug 2021 Belarus-based Absolutbank has suspended a number of transactions with individuals, including issuance and service of VISA international payment cards, sending and sending/disbursing Western Union money transfers, says a report posted on the bank’s web-site. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Absolutbank suspends the following operations with individuals (except for individual entrepreneurs): money transfers (including those without opening an account) in foreign currency, except for money transfers in Russian rubles and transfers to accounts at resident banks; issue and service of VISA international payment system bank cards; sending and disbursing money transfers through Western Union international system,” the statement said. </p> <p> </p> <p> The bank did not explain the reasons for the decision, and did not specify how long the restrictions would stay in force. </p> <p> </p> <p> Absolutbank was founded in 1993. The main shareholder is Interservice (Vitebsk Oblast). Since August 9, 2021, the bank has been under U.S. sanctions targeting 23 individuals and 21 legal entities from Belarus. End </p>
