A1, Visa to offer joint digital financial services

A1, Belarusian provider of telecom, ICT and content services, and Visa entered into an agreement on strategic partnership to develop digital financial services in Belarus and expand A1 banking subscribers’ opportunities through the introduction of new high-tech options, A1’s press office reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> The agreement is concluded for a period of five years (extendable) to expand the range of financial services provided by A1 banking app, and offer innovative products in Belarus. As part of strategic cooperation, the parties are going to enter the premium segment with individualized solutions,” reads the report. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to A1 Vice CFO Johannes Kandera, partnership with Visa makes it possible to unite efforts and exchange expertise to provide Belarus with universal and high-tech financial products that meet modern international standards. </p> <p> </p> <p> Visa Country Manager for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Svetlana Chirva calls the partnership agreement an important step towards a payment ecosystem in Belarus. “Our task is to share our perspective and help to technologically provide payment solutions in a flexible, reliable and secure way. We hope that our cooperation will give a significant impetus to the digitalization and further growth of the cashless economy,” she says. </p> <p> </p> <p> A1 banking free application is available to subscribers of all telecom operators of Belarus. Users can make payments without commission fr om any available cards of Belarusian banks, make contactless payments, using smartphones and transfer money to other users. Also, they can pay for fuel at Belorusneft filling stations directly through the application not involving cash register clerks, and use a monthly lim it of Br100 ($39.2 at the rate of the National Bank of Belarus) to make payments through the A1 Wallet. </p> <p> </p> <p> Earlier, A1, Visa and Reshenie Bank provided the possibility of issuing a Visa-based virtual card with cashback. A1 banking subscribers can issue it directly in the application to make any payments in Belarus and outside the coountry. </p> <p> </p> <p> Established in 1998, A1 unitary enterprise is now fully owned by A1 Telekom Austria Group. The mobile operator A1 started revenue service of its 3G network based on the HSPA/HSPA+ technology in March 2010. The operator made 4G mobile internet services available to customers in March 2019.
