Belarus’ real sector reduces consumer price growth expectations – NBB survey
<p> MINSK, Jul 2 – PrimePress. Belarus’ real sector has reduced expectations of consumer price growth in the next three months, reads the June business climate review by the National Bank of Belarus. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the survey, the index of expected price growth at a faster rate than at present makes 25.9% in June 2020. A month earlier it was 30.4%, to compare with 40.8% in April. In general, two thirds of respondents expect price growth in the next three months. According to the survey, the price growth slowdown index was 16.1%, while in May it was 15.6% and 10.6% in April. This indicates a small share of those who do not expect prices to keep growing. </p> <p> </p> <p> The findings of the June survey indicate that the index of those who expect the growth of selling prices for manufactured products has slightly decreased compared to the data of the previous survey: 14.7% against 15.1% in May and 16.2% in April 2020. In general, price growth is expected in all sectors presented in the survey, but the largest growth is forecast for the segment of trade, car repair services, household goods and personal items, the smallest growth is expected in the construction sector. </p> <p> </p> <p> The expected change in output (works, sales, transportation services) after a sharp fall to negative values (this means the prevalence of answers with a drop in production) - in April to minus 2.3%, in May returned to the positive area - 5.3% and continued to increase in June to 11.2%. It is indicative that the areas of trade, auto repair, household goods, personal demand items and transport services show the highest level of pessimism. </p> <p> </p> <p> On the whole, the economic situation in June 2020, as seen by the survey participants, is “unfavourable”, and has been so since February this year.
