MAZ switches to Belarusian-Chinese MAZ Weichai, Fast MAZ engines and gearboxes

The Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) OJSC–Managing Company of Belavtomaz Holding, will start the manufacture of cars with engines and gear-boxes produced by Belarusian-Chinese JVs MAZ-Weichai and Fast-MAZ (residents of the Great Stone Park), MAZ press office reports.<br> <br> This concerns dump trucks, tractors, high sided trucks, logging trucks and special-purpose vehicles. The company will switch to the new engines and gear-boxes step by step to reduce the costs of MAZ vehicles, reads the statement.<br> <br> MAZ-Weichai has been operating since autumn 2019. It produces 190-460 hp engines. The production capacity is 10,000 engines per year (one-shift operation). <br> <br> Built jointly with Shaanxi Fast Gear, Fast-MAZ began production in late 2020. It produces six-, nine- and 12-speed manual gearboxes for Belarusian trucks. The production capacity is 10,000 gearboxes.<br> <br> Belavtomaz plans to export around 12,000 vehicles worth over $400 million in 2021.
