Grodno Azot commissions urea big-bag packaging unit
MINSK, Jul 15 - PrimePress. Grodno Azot OJSC has commissioned a unit for urea packaging into 500 kg and 1,000 kg big-bags with a capacity of 120,000 tonnes per year, says Deputy Chief Engineer, head of the Perspective Development Service of the enterprise Pavel Logis.<br> <br> “The project aimed at an expansion of finished product market outlets, i.e. the construction of a urea packaging unit at Urea-4 shop was executed in the second quarter of 2021,” says Logis.<br> <br> The construction of a biological wastewater treatment plant and a plant for dehydration of excessive activated sludge with underground utilities, and some other projects are at the pre-investment stage, he says.<br> <br> “The goal is to extend the service life of the available facilities, reduce energy consumption and increasing nitrogen fertilizer output,” Logis says.<br> <br> We are also working on a reconstruction of the urea-ammonium nitrate mixture production line and on production of ammonium nitrate.<br> <br> Grodno Azot has been operating since 1963. It was transformed into a joint-stock company in 2002. Khimvolokno OJSC was incorporated into the company in October 2011. Annual output of liquid technical ammonia totals 976,800 tonnes, carbamide – 945,000 tonnes, liquid nitrogen fertilizers – 720 tonnes, ammonium sulfate – 319,000 tonnes, industrial methanol – 80,000 tonnes, caprolactam – 121,200 tonnes, crystalline hydroxylamine sulfate – 3,300 tonnes, fatty acid methyl esters (biofuel) – 40,000 tonnes, highest quality carbon dioxide – 24,000 tonnes.
