Business union opposed to involuntary migration of state-owned companies’ accounts from private to state-owned banks
<p> MINSK, May 28 - PrimePress. The Professor Kunyavsky Business Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers find it unlawful that relevant public bodies should force state-owned enterprises (including companies with a minor state-owned stake) to move their accounts from private banks to state-owned ones. </p> <p> </p> <p> For instance, a letter by Tatiana Lugina, chief of the state-owned light industries concern Bellegprom, orders companies controlled by Bellegprom to move their accounts to state-owned banks by June 8, 2020. The Bellegprom chief’s letter refers to a relevant instruction by the Belarusian government. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Professor Kunyavsky Business Union says that companies of other concerns have received similar instructions from their patrons. </p> <p> </p> <p> On behalf of the entire business community of Belarus, the business union expresses deep concern and disappointment over such actions by the country’s economic authorities. The requirement to have accounts only with state-owned banks contradicts market principles and can seriously harm the economy, which is already under pressure from the COVID-19 pandemic. End </p>
