Belarus’ life:) telecom operator reports 0.8% decrease in revenues in 1H20 to Br65.1m – Turkcell Group

Belarusian life:) telecom operator reports a 0.8% y/y decrease in revenues in the first half of 2020 to Br65.1 million ($26.5 million at the rate of the National Bank of Belarus), reads the quarterly report by its parent company Turkcell Group. </p> <p> </p> <p> In the second quarter of 2020 alone, the company’s revenues decreased by 3.3% year on year to Br32.6 million ($13.3 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> EBITDA decreased in 1H20 by 13.5% to Br16 million ($6.5 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> The company’s net loss decreased in 1H20 by 1.7% to Br17 million ($6.9m). The net loss in 2Q20 rose by 4.7% yoy to Br8.9 million ($3.6 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> The operator reduced capital expenditures in the first half of 2020 by 36.9% to Br19.7 million ($8 million). In Q2, capital expenditures decreased by 56.5% yoy to Br8.7 million ($3.5 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> The company numbered 1 million active subscribers in annual terms, down 9.1%; the total subscriber base decreased by 6.7% to 1.4 million. </p> <p> </p> <p> Life:) continues to increase the penetration of 4G users in its client base. The share of 4G users reached 57% of the number of active users, which stimulates the continued use of data and digital services. In the first quarter of 2020, the average monthly data consumption by subscribers increased by 65% thanks to an increase in data transfer by 4G users. Life:) continued to promote its digital services, since the use of digital services leads to increased loyalty and increased generation of ARPU (Average Revenue Per User). The Music, Games and TV+ services were the main factors in growth of revenues from digital services in the first quarter, Turkcell Group says. </p> <p> </p> <p> BeST CJSC (life:)) was licensed to provide communication services on March 24, 2005, and began commercial operation of its network on December 21, 2005.
