Belarus’ High-Tech Park residents report 34.5% increase in export revenues in H1 2020 to $1.248bn
<p> MINSK, Aug 28 - PrimePress. Resident companies of the Belarusian High Technologies Park (High-Tech Park, HTP) increased export revenues by 34.5% year on year in H1 2020 to $1.248 billion, according to Belstat data. </p> <p> </p> <p> In H1 2020 HTP resident companies increased services import 2.7 times year on year to $132.4 million. The balance of foreign trade in services in H1 2020 was positive in the amount of $1.115 billion, to compare with a $878.1 million surplus in H1 2019. </p> <p> </p> <p> In H1 2020, HTP resident companies exported their services to 138 countries (117 countries in H1 2019). The United States of America (44.5% of total services exports), Cyprus (12.1%), the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (7.6%), Ireland (6.1%), the Russian Federation (4.2%), Germany (3.5%) and the Czech Republic (2.5%). </p> <p> </p> <p> HTP resident companies attracted $225 million in foreign direct investments in H1 2020 (+37.2% yoy). The main investors of HTP resident companies were business entities of Cyprus (41.8%) and the United States of America (13.5%). </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the Ministry of Taxes and Duties, in January-June 2020 HTP residents’ revenues from the sale of products, goods, works and services amounted to Br3.304 billion ($1.24 billion at the rate of the National Bank of Belarus, +42.8% yoy). </p> <p> </p> <p> The average number of employees in the park, according to the Ministry of Labour, is 59.2 thousand people as of July 1, 2020 (+20.2 compared to July 1, 2019). </p> <p> </p> <p> The HTP was established by Presidential Decree No. 12 of Sep 22, 2005 to create favourable conditions for software development and IT technologies aimed at making the national economy more competitive. The HTP legal regime is in force throughout the territory of Belarus. As of August 1, 2020 886 companies are registered in the High Technologies Park, with staff totalling some 63 thousand people.
