After Belarus switched to world oil prices, sales of oil products are most profitable within a 500-km range from the refinery, Naftan’s Deputy Director General for Economy and Finance Ilya Ikan said in an interview. </p> <p> </p> <p> Naftan has hired a consulting company to assess the feasibility of production costs and develop a strategy to improve operational efficiency. “A third-party opinion will make it possible to analyze the level of operating costs from a different angle and get an independent assessment of them. In the short term, taking into account the transition to global prices for hydrocarbons, the volume of oil refining and the structure of petroleum products should be calculated based on the possible volume of sales of petroleum products with the highest added value, which, taking into account the cost of logistics is achieved within a range of no more than 500 km,” Ikan said in an interview published by the Belneftekhim corporate journal. </p> <p> </p> <p> The official says Naftan needs to optimize costs, provide economically and technically efficient volume of oil processing, which should be calculated taking into account the demand for oil products in the domestic and neighboring markets.
