A1 tests mobile communication on 3rd line of Minsk subway

A1, Belarusian provider of telecom, ICT and content services, tested mobile communication and Internet on the third line of the Minsk subway, the company reports </p> <p> </p> <p> The check showed the technical readiness of the A1 network at the Kovalskaya Sloboda, Vokzalnaya, Frantishka Bogushevicha Square and Yubileynaya Square stations. Passengers of the third line of the Minsk subway will be able to make calls, including in HD-Voice format and use the mobile Internet on station platforms and in underpasses. </p> <p> </p> <p> In the near future, A1 services will be available in the tunnels between the Frantishka Bogushevicha Square and Yubileynaya Square stations. Other station-to-station blocks will be covered after the completion of works performed by other Belarusian telecom operators involved in the project. </p> <p> </p> <p> Established in 1998, A1 unitary enterprise is now fully owned by A1 Telekom Austria Group. The mobile operator A1 started revenue service of its 3G network based on the HSPA/HSPA+ technology in March 2010. The operator made 4G mobile internet services available to customers in March 2019. Until Aug 1, 2019 the company had been operating under the velcom brand. Its subscriber base numbered 4.872 million people as of 1Q20. End </p> <p> </p>
