Volfovich put in charge of Belarus’ interdepartmental commission to counter extremism and fight terrorism
<p> MINSK, Nov 24 - PrimePress. The Interdepartmental Commission to counter extremism and fight terrorism under the Security Council of Belarus will be headed by the State Secretary of the Security Council, in accordance with presidential ordinance #450 of 22 November 2021 published on the National Legal Internet Portal of Belarus on November 24. </p> <p> </p> <p> The State Secretary’s post is currently held by Alexander Volfovich. If necessary, the commission may also be chaired by the Deputy State Secretary of the Security Council (currently Alexander Rakhmanov). </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the ordinance, the interdepartmental commission includes the prosecutor general (Andrei Shved), the head of the presidential security service (Dmitry Shakhrayev), the head of the operational and analytical centre under the president of Belarus (Andrey Pavlyuchenko), the chairman of the investigation committee (Dmitry Gora), the chairman of the state committee of forensic expertise (Alexei Volkov), the interior minister (Ivan Kubrakov), the defence minister (Viktor Khrenin), the minister for emergency situations (Vadim Sinyavsky) and the chairman of the State Border Committee (Anatoly Lappo), Chairman of the State Security Committee aka KGB (Ivan Tertel), Chairman of the State Customs Committee (Vladimir Orlovsky) or their deputies, as well as the secretary of the commission from among the staff of the State Secretariat of the Security Council. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the ordinance, the interdepartmental commission is a permanent collegial body. Its main objectives are: to timely identify and eliminate causes and conditions that contribute to extremism and terrorism; coordinate activities of entities at the national level to counter extremism and combat terrorism; develop proposals to improve legislation in this area; develop international cooperation in the sphere of combating extremism and terrorism. </p> <p> </p> <p> The ordinance enters into force on the day of its signing.
