Uzbekistan, Cuba granted observer status at EEU

Uzbekistan and Cuba have been granted observer status at the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU - Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia). </p> <p> </p> <p> A decision to this effect was taken by the heads of EEU member states at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on December 11, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> The status of an observer state at the union is provided for by the EEU Treaty. The Observer State has the right to send its representative to the EEC residence, the representative is authorized to interact with the EEC on a regular basis. </p> <p> </p> <p> The State receiving the observer status is obliged to refrain from any actions that may harm the interests of the Union and its member States, the objectives of the EEC Treaty.
