Signing agreement on transshipment of Belarus’ oil products via Russia’ ports postponed – Transport Ministry

The agreement on the transshipment of Belarusian oil products via Russian sea ports has been postponed from February 15, 2021 to a later date, because Belarus has not yet completed the required domestic procedures, says Spokeswoman for the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry Anna Kurilenok. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Russian Transport Ministry said earlier that Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev and Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus Alexei Avramenko would sign the agreement on the transshipment of Belarusian oil products in Russian ports on February 15, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> “We are still working on the domestic procedures to sign the Belarus-Russia transshipment agreement. Therefore, the meeting has been postponed,” BelTA state newswire quotes Kurilenok as saying. </p> <p> </p> <p> Besides, work is still underway on the contracts with Russian operators of seaport terminals and with the railway operator which must be signed together with the agreement, she said. </p> <p> </p> <p> President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced in August 2020 the possible redirection of Belarusian commodity flows from the ports of the Baltic States to other ports. In late January 2021, the Russian government approved a draft agreement with Belarus on the transportation and transshipment of Belarusian oil products through Russian ports, possibly 2 to 3.5 million tonnes per year. The Russian Ministry of Transport was entrusted to sign the final agreement with Belarus.
