National Bank’s net foreign assets up 0.01% in Jan-Oct 2021 to $7.281bn

Net foreign assets of the National Bank of Belarus (NBB) amounted to U.S. $7.281 billion as of 1 Nov 2021, up 0.01% year to date, the National Bank of Belarus said in a statistical report. </p> <p> </p> <p> The National Bank’s net foreign assets decreased following an increase in gross foreign assets by 8.6% in Jan-Oct 2021 to $8.797 billion and an 90% increase in foreign liabilities to $1.536 billion as of Nov 1, 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> Monetary gold accounted for $4.473bn of the National Bank’s gross foreign assets as of Nov 1, 2021 (up 28.8% year to date), deposits – $3.557bn (up 24.2%), credits – $6.563m (down 146 times), securities (except shares) – $593.16m (down 24.7%), foreign exchange – $167.878m (up 17 times), other assets –$41,278, to compare with $0 as of 1 Jan, 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> Credits accounted for $78.676m of the National Bank’s external liabilities as of Nov 1, 2021 (down 68.7% year to date), securities (except shares) – none as in the beginning of the year, deposits – $8.627m (down 4 times), other liabilities – $1.449bn (down 2.73 times). </p> <p> </p> <p> In 2020, net foreign assets of the Belarusian government and the National Bank of Belarus decreased by 17.4% to U.S. $7.28 billion as of January 1, 2021.
