MTS Belarus launches 78-rack data centre for servers, network equipment in Minsk
<p> MINSK, Mar 3 - PrimePress. Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS), a telecommunication operator and provider of digital services, has launched its own data centre complete with 78 racks for server and network equipment in its Minsk head office, the operator’s press service said. </p> <p> </p> <p> The facility covers an area of 370 square metres and houses 78 racks for servers and network equipment. The total electric capacity of data centre is 954 kW, useful electric capacity - 657 kW for IT load connection. The data centre meets the Tier III level of fault tolerance: all systems are redundant, uninterruptible power supply sources protect against power failures, and an automatic fire extinguishing system is installed. </p> <p> </p> <p> The data centre will house technological equipment and MTS Cloud servers. Additionally, MTS offers to lease virtual resources as a service (IaaS). Virtualisation platforms using Cisco and Huawei equipment are available for this purpose. </p> <p> </p> <p> MTS was registered in Belarus on April 4, 2002. The operator is a joint venture between Russia’s largest mobile operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) and Belarus’ Beltelecom operator. The companies hold respective stakes of 49% and 51% in the joint venture. </p> <p> </p> <p> MTS Belarus started providing GSM 900/1800 standard services on June 27, 2002; launched 3G revenue service in May 2010 and 4G revenue service in December 2015.
