Minsk wants World Bank to contribute to Belarus’ 2021-2025 State Programme of Innovative Development

Belarus points out the importance of the contribution made by World Bank experts to the elaboration of the State Programme for Innovative Development (SPID) for 2021-2025. Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology (SCST) Alexander Shumilin made a statement to this effect at a meeting with World Bank experts in the format of a video conference, the SCST press service said. </p> <p> </p> <p> The SPID project for 2021-2025 includes 72 projects, which provide for creating new productions that are of crucial importance for the country’s innovative development, of which 19 projects are based on V-VI technologies and 23 projects are based on domestic developments. </p> <p> </p> <p> The SCST and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe have prepared two innovation development reviews of Belarus. The recommendations of these reviews have been used in the development and implementation of the 2016-2020 SPID. </p> <p> </p> <p> Since the Republic of Belarus joined the World Bank in 1992, lending commitments to the country have totalled $1.9 billion. The active investment lending portfolio financed by the World Bank in Belarus includes nine projects totalling $942.71 million. End </p>
