Lukashenko takes part in informal meeting of CIS heads of state in St Petersburg

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on 28 Dec 2021 took part in the informal meeting of heads of member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in St. Petersburg (Russia), said the president’s press service. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, on December 28-29 Lukashenko is on a working visit to St. Petersburg, where he is participating in an informal meeting between the leaders of CIS countries. It is expected that Lukashenko will meet with Putin on December 29. The presidents will discuss topical issues of Belarus-Russia cooperation. </p> <p> </p> <p> The CIS leaders will review the results of Belarus’ chairmanship in the CIS in 2021, share opinions on pending issues, discuss further plans to raise the efficiency of cooperation, social and economic development of the CIS countries. </p> <p> </p> <p> Lukashenko noted that it is important for the CIS heads of state to understand how the pandemic situation will develop in the future. </p> <p> </p> <p> Lukashenko pointed out that from the very first months of the pandemic he had been asking experts, including Russian scientists to provide a forecast for the future development of the situation.
