Lukashenko instructs BelOil to win market niche despite sanctions

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has instructed the Belarusian Oil Company (BelOil) to occupy a market niche despite Western sanctions, Prime reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> As reported by the president’s press-service, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko appointed Mikhail Kostechko as BelOil director and outlined short-term priorities for Belarusian Oil Company. </p> <p> </p> <p> “As far as the oil company is concerned, you know what processes are going on there, especially in relation to these scumbags in the West. But I think there are no unsolvable issues. You need to take your place in this market,” the president’s press-service reports citing Lukashenko as saying. </p> <p> </p> <p> Prior to this appointment, Mikhail Kostechko was the director of Transchem, a dealer of Belarusian petrochemicals in Lithuania. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Belarusian Oil Company CJSC was established in May 2007. Belorusneft owns a 52% stake in the company, Naftan OJSC and Mozyr Oil Refinery OJSC own 24% each. BelOil exports oil products produced by its shareholders, purchases and refines oil at Belarusian refineries. The company has subsidiaries in Poland, Latvia, the UK, Russia and Ukraine. As reported by the president’s press-service, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko appointed Mikhail Kostechko as BelOil director and outlined short-term priorities for Belarusian Oil Company.
