Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has instructed the Belarusian Oil Company (BelOil) to occupy a market niche despite Western sanctions, Prime reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> As reported by the president’s press-service, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko appointed Mikhail Kostechko as BelOil director and outlined short-term priorities for Belarusian Oil Company. </p> <p> </p> <p> “As far as the oil company is concerned, you know what processes are going on there, especially in relation to these scumbags in the West. But I think there are no unsolvable issues. You need to take your place in this market,” the president’s press-service reports citing Lukashenko as saying. </p> <p> </p> <p> Prior to this appointment, Mikhail Kostechko was the director of Transchem, a dealer of Belarusian petrochemicals in Lithuania. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Belarusian Oil Company CJSC was established in May 2007. Belorusneft owns a 52% stake in the company, Naftan OJSC and Mozyr Oil Refinery OJSC own 24% each. BelOil exports oil products produced by its shareholders, purchases and refines oil at Belarusian refineries. The company has subsidiaries in Poland, Latvia, the UK, Russia and Ukraine.
