Lukashenko goes for personnel reshuffle, sacks Karayev

Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko announced new personnel appointments on Oct 29. </p> <p> </p> <p> Lukashenko has appointed Ivan Kubrakov Minister of Internal Affairs, Yuri Karayev – President’s Envoy - Inspector for Grodno Oblast, Valery Vakulchik - President’s Envoy - Inspector for Brest Oblast, and Alexander Barsukov - President’s Envoy - Inspector for Minsk City. </p> <p> </p> <p> Kubrakov’s previous job post was chief of Minsk City Police, Karayev’s - Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakulchik’s - State Secretary of the Security Council, and Barsukov’s - Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. </p> <p> </p> <p> Lukashenko stressed that these personnel decisions were taken “in connection with those events, first of all, that took place (they are not over yet, we do not know what it may result in)”. </p> <p> </p> <p> At the same time, he instructed the Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic, Natalia Kochanova, to prepare legal acts providing for the extension of the powers of the newly appointed presidential envoys.
