Lukashenko defines conditions for implementing Northern Waterfront urban development project in Minsk in 2021-2040
<p> MINSK, May 14 - PrimePress. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on May 13, 2021 signed Ordinance #186 “On implementing an investment project in Minsk”, sets forth the terms for a Br10bn urban development project ($3.95bn) entitled “The Northern Waterfront” to be implemented in Minsk in 2021-2040, the president’s press-service said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The document sets forth the terms for the construction of the Northern Waterfront experimental multifunctional complex in the northern part of the city within the boundaries of the Minsk Ring Road, Pobeditelei Avenue, Orlovskaya Street and Tsnyanskoye Reservoir by Riverside Development Holdings Limited (United Arab Emirates)”. </p> <p> </p> <p> The ordinance says the complex will include residential buildings with all the necessary engineering and transport infrastructure, social facilities and public facilities with a total area of more than 6 million square meters. </p> <p> </p> <p> The first to be built will be the International Exhibition Centre, the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, the Minsk World Trade Centre. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, on 22 February 2021, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko reported at a meeting with Mohamed Al Abbar, board chairman at Emaar Properties (United Arab Emirates), that the government and the city hall were working intensively on the draft ordinance on the implementation of the Northern Waterfront investment project and the investment agreement between Emaar Properties and the Minsk City Executive Committee. According to Golovchenko, a company has already been registered in Belarus that will implement the project after the ordinance is signed. </p> <p> </p> <p> Emaar Properties, founded in 1997 and headquartered in Dubai, is one of the world’s largest real estate developers and investors in the construction industry.
