Lukashenko approves amendment to agreement with IBRD on loan for M6 motorway reconstruction
<p> MINSK, Mar 30 - PrimePress. Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko signed ordinance #125 of 30 March 2021 approving an amendment to the agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) on a loan for the reconstruction project of the M6 motorway Minsk-Grodno-Polish border, the president’s press service reported. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, a $250 million loan agreement on the project "Modernization of the Transit Corridor" between Belarus and the IBRD was signed on 8 January 2015 for the reconstruction of the 86 km long section of the M6 Minsk-Grodno-Border of Poland motorway, as well as a technical audit of the works. In addition, the project provides for the creation of a traffic control centre and the reconstruction of the Bruzgi border crossing point on the Belarusian-Polish border. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The amendment signed in Minsk in December 2020 specifies the works and activities for the implementation of which the loan funds saved during the reconstruction of the M6 motorway are to be used. The approval of this amendment ensures the fullest possible utilization of the loan proceeds and contributes to the continuation of systematic work on the development of road facilities and improvement of road safety,” the statement reads.
