Increased costs of transshipment of Belarusian oil products through Russian ports to be compensated by increased transit tariffs - Gazprombank

MINSK, Mar 19 – PrimePress. The rising costs of transshipment of Belarusian oil products through the ports of the Russian Federation will be compensated by an increase in transit tariffs. Deputy head of the Market Analysis Department of Russia’s Gazprombank Gulnara Khaidarshina made a statement to this effect during the VI roundtable "Belarus’ Debt Market" on March 19.

“There have been reports in the media that the transfer of part of Belarusian oil product shipments to Russian ports may lead to a significant increase in prices and it may become less profitable. We conducted an analysis and it showed that only 20% of Belarusian oil products are exported via Klaipeda. If the increase in price occurs, which is unlikely, it will be insignificant and will be compensated by a 6.6% increase in tariffs for oil transit through Belarus. This can add about $10 million to the budget, which is more than enough to cover the possible increase in costs,” Khaidarshina said.

Russia and Belarus on 19 February 2021 signed an intergovernmental agreement on transshipping Belarusian oil products export through Russian seaports.
