Grodno prepares $12.8m investment project to improve energy efficiency of social facilities with IBRD funds

An investment project is prepared in Grodno to improve the energy efficiency of social facilities at the expense of a loan of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) in the amount of $12.8 million, the Energy Efficiency Department of the State Committee for Standardization of Belarus said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> The report says that the Grodno Regional Department for Supervision of Rational Use of Fuel and Energy Resources of the Energy Efficiency Department in cooperation with the regional executive committee has recommended including into the project 98 facilities in education, health, culture, sports and tourism and social protection, with an estimated investment volume of $13.5 million, of which $12.8 million is financed by an IBRD loan and $0.7 million by the local budget. </p> <p> </p> <p> It is expected that the project will save 5,400 tonnes of equivalent fuel. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) on 28 Nov 2019 signed the agreements on a €90m loan and a GEF grant in the amount of $3.653m for the project to expand sustainable energy use.
