Eurasian Intergovernmental Council approves roadmap for creating EEU common market of organic agricultural products

The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council approved a road map for creating a common market of organic agricultural products in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) on August 20, 2021, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> “This allows the Eurasian Economic Commission together with the countries of the Union to start developing an international treaty, the adoption of which will ensure the free movement of organic agricultural products in the EEU. A key provision of the agreement will be unification of requirements for the production and labelling of such products, which will be the basis for mutual recognition of organic certification systems,” reads the report. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to expert estimates, today the share of areas involved in organic farming does not exceed 1% of the total arable land in the EEU.
