ERIP plans to present biometric payment solution in June
<p> MINSK, Mar 24 - PrimePress. The non-banking credit and finance institution ERIP (Single Account Clearing Centre) plans to introduce a biometric payment solution in June 2021. The instrument will allow customers purchase goods and services via biometric connection with their bank accounts, Natalia Vasilevskaya of ERIP announced during the conference “New Payment Technologies” on March 24. </p> <p> </p> <p> Vasilevskaya said that previously biometrics was used for customer identification and authentication. At present Belinvestbank and the National Bank of Belarus are implementing a pilot project to receive payments using biometric parameters. The biometric instrument is now being tested at three public catering outlets in the National Bank. </p> <p> </p> <p> The project includes two stages: creation of a biometric template tool of a person’s face photo and initiation of payment. The template is created in a mobile app and is linked to a specific bank account, not a bank card. The pin code is then linked to the template. ERIP then makes a record of the template in the system. </p> <p> </p> <p> To pay, the customer presents himself in a mobile application on a tablet installed at the point of sale, the biometric system recognises the customer, gives him the opportunity to select any bank for payment, and then information is transmitted to the bank. The bank then makes the payment in the Single Account Clearing Centre and confirms the payment to the service provider. </p> <p> </p> <p> In June, they plan to introduce a ready-to-use boxed biometric payment solution, Vasilevskaya said.
