ENSREG mission may visit Astravyets in Feb – regulator
<p> MINSK, Jan 14 – PrimePress. The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor) and the European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (ENSREG) are negotiating a visit of the European experts to the Belarusian nuclear power plant in February 2021, Gosatomnadzor representatives said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> Gosatomnadzor expects the specific timeframe of the visit to be determined soon. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, experts of the European Commission and the European Nuclear Safety Regulatory Group (ENSREG) cancelled their visit to the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (Astravyets District, Grodno Oblast) scheduled for December 16-18, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson said on December 16, 2020 that Belarus did not hold a technical preparatory meeting, so the ENSREG mission decided to cancel the visit to the Belarusian nuclear power plant, since such a visit made no sense.
