EEU states agree to step up work on pilot projects in foreign e-commerce
<p> MINSK, Aug 26 - PrimePress. Member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) have agreed to intensify work on pilot projects in the field of foreign electronic commerce, said the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) after the eighth meeting of the high-level working group on cross-border e-commerce at the EEC headquarters. </p> <p> </p> <p> “In particular, Armenia and Belarus informed about their readiness to start pilot projects on November 1. Representatives of the state authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan informed that their parliament was considering the necessary amendments to the national legislation for implementing the relevant pilot project.” In his words, Kyrgyzstan informed they are preparing the relevant national regulatory framework and indicated the beginning of next year as the starting date of the pilot project. In Russia, the pilot project is already being implemented. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Updated information on the progress of work on experiments in the field of foreign e-commerce in the member states will be presented in October at meetings of the EEC Council and the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council,” said member of the EEC Board (Minister) on Trade Andrey Slepnev. </p> <p> </p> <p> The parties concerned have developed a roadmap complete with a basic package of measures on favourable conditions for e-commerce promotion. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, since mid-2020, the EEU has been actively working to amend EEU legislation on foreign electronic trade. For instance, the EEC Council adopted Resolution #7 of 5 April 2021 on carrying out pilot projects in the corresponding field in the member states.
