EEU leaders approve two agreements to create unified customs transit system

The heads of member states the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia) approved two agreements to create a unified system of customs transit – the agreement on the use of navigation seals in the EEU and the agreement on the specifics of security application for the transportation of goods under the customs procedure of customs transit. </p> <p> </p> <p> The agreements were approved at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC), which was conducted via video conference on 10 December, said the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). </p> <p> </p> <p> The agreement on the use of navigation seals will form a system for tracking the transportation of goods, which will minimise controls at the internal borders of the EEU, increase the transit appeal of EEU members, and ensure the traceability of goods and their legal turnover within the EEU, the press service said. </p> <p> </p> <p> In particular, they will track goods moving across the territories of two or more member states as part of customs transit, sanctioned goods, alcohol and tobacco in mutual trade. The document covers road and rail transport. </p> <p> </p> <p> The agreement on peculiarities of security application for the transportation of goods under the customs procedure of customs transit is aimed at developing guarantee mechanisms and reducing the financial burden on business in transit shipments within the EEU, including the use of modern information technologies and electronic document flow.
