EEU countries to step up investment cooperation with Argentina in agricultural sector - EEC

Member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia) are stepping up investment cooperation with Argentina in the agricultural sector. This was discussed at the meeting of Minister of Industry and Agro-industrial Complex of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Artak Kamalyan with Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to the Russian Federation Eduardo Zuain, the EEC press service reported. </p> <p> </p> <p> The parties plan to should focus on implementing joint investment projects in areas such as material and technical resources, livestock breeding, winemaking and organic agriculture. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Argentina is one of the leaders among Latin American countries in terms of livestock, milk, grain and oilseeds production. However, its share in the EEU’s foreign trade is insignificant. In 2020, trade turnover between the EEU and Argentina was $847 million, and Argentina’s share in the total balance of EEU imports was about 3%. On 1 August 2019, the EEC and the Secretariat for Agro-Industries of the Ministry of Production and Labour of Argentina signed a memorandum of cooperation in the agro-industrial sector. End </p>
