EEU countries may sign agreement on common gas market in 2022 - EEC
<p> MINSK, Aug 4 - PrimePress. Member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia) may sign an agreement on a common gas market in 2022, assistant to Chairman of the EEC’s (Eurasian Economic Commission) board Iya Malkina told a briefing on August 4. </p> <p> </p> <p> “As for the common gas market, an international agreement on its formation is planned to be signed as early as in 2022. The Heads of State instructed to ensure the implementation of the principles of pricing and tariff policy in the common market, based on non-discriminatory fair competition. The relevant work is in progress,” said Malkina. </p> <p> </p> <p> In her words, it will be possible to buy this energy resource on the exchange within the framework of the common gas market. “For this purpose, the procedure of gas exchange trading will be adopted, which is already being developed by the governments of the EEU countries and the national stock exchanges,” she said. </p> <p> </p> <p> The EEU does not abandon plans to form the unified markets of electricity and energy resources until early 2025, said Malkina. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, head of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Mikhail Myasnikovich told reporters on 21 June 2021 that EEU member states may sign an international treaty on the common market for oil and oil products by January 1, 2023.
