EEU Common Gas Market Treaty may be signed in 2022 - EEC minister

The signing of the agreement on the common gas market of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEC) is due in 2022. </p> <p> </p> <p> Emil Kaikiyev, Member of the Board (Minister) on Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) made a statement to this effect at the online press conference in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) on February 4. </p> <p> </p> <p> "An international treaty on establishing a common gas market is currently being prepared. The treaty will also establish principles for the formation of the gas transportation tariff. The signing of this treaty is due in 2022,” BelTA reports citing Kaikiyev as saying. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, in May 2020, the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council approved the Eurasian economic integration strategy for the period to 2025. Armenia and Belarus rejected the gas tariff calculation formula. Russian President Vladimir Putin said in this regard that a common gas tariff formula requires greater integration. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Eurasian Economic Union has been functioning since January 1, 2015. It unites Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Belarus presides EEU bodies in 2020.
