EEU agreement on navigation seals for cargo shipment may be signed in Dec 2021 – Golovchenko
<p> MINSK, Nov 19 - PrimePress. The agreement on the use of navigation seals in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) to track cargo shipments is due to be signed in December 2021. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made a statement to this effect at a press-conference on 19 November following a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Yerevan. </p> <p> </p> <p> “A rather complicated issue was an agreement on the use of navigation seals for cargo shipments. This is quite a big step forward to make transportation transparent, to reduce the number of potentially shady schemes. We have agreed on all issue blocks and will submit them for signing to the Supreme Eurasian Council,” BelTA reports citing Golovchenko as saying. </p> <p> </p> <p> In his words, it was also very important for Belarus to take a decision to ensure the supply of scrap metal to Belarusian steelmaking companies. “This is a strategic raw material for Belarusian metal makers, especially for BMZ (Belarusian Steel Works, Zhlobin, Gomel Oblast), so we took up this issue a year ago and today we have put it to rest, and we can say that the needs of the country are fully met,” he said. </p> <p> </p> <p> Golovchenko noted that the EEU has done a lot of work to remove barriers and reduce exemptions and restrictions in mutual economic relations and trade.
