EEC raises rates of import duty for aluminium tape for cans to 12% from 10%

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has adopted a series of resolution, which will result in raising the rates of import duties on aluminium tape used in the production of beverage cans to 12% from 10% for a period of two years. This was reported by the EEC press service. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The measure is aimed at stabilizing conditions for the development of domestic production of aluminium tape, increasing the competitiveness of finished products, as well as increasing the volume of production," said EEC Minister of Trade Andrey Slepnyov. </p> <p> </p> <p> He said that the capacity of producers of aluminium tape in the states of the Eurasian Economic Union is underemployed. However, their potential capacity can fully meet the domestic demand for aluminium tape. </p> <p> </p> <p> The decision of the EEC Council will come into force ten calendar days after its official publication.
