BUCE reports 45% increase in export sales of all types of timber products in January-March to $111.8 million

Belarus Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) increased export trading in all kinds of timber products (sawn wood, wooden poles and stakes, wood chips, fuel pellets, etc.) in January-March, 2021 by 45% year on year up to $111.8m, BUCE told PrimePress. </p> <p> </p> <p> The total turnover of timber products (domestic and export sales) in January-March 2021 increased by 79% year on year to Br819 million ($308.52 million at the rate of National Bank of Belarus). </p> <p> </p> <p> Great Britain accounted for the largest increase in sales of sawn timber through BUCE in January-March 2021 - six times year on year to $2 million in money terms and three times in volume terms to 8.5 thousand cubic metres. Shipments to China in January-March 2021 rose to 24.8 thousand cubic metres (1.5 times yoy) for $5.4 million (twice as much). </p> <p> </p> <p> “The key role here was played by large importers of timber from the United Kingdom and China, which were able to buy the entire volume they needed on a single trading platform. Another important point is that transactions are made directly between producers and end consumers, which is beneficial for both parties”, the BUCE press service explained. </p> <p> </p> <p> In January-March 2021 companies from 23 countries made timber purchases at the BUCE platform. Lithuania, Germany and Latvia traditionally ranked among the top three buyers. End </p>
