BPC raises price of potash fertilizers exported to China by 12.3% to $247 per tonne in 2021

The Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) raised the price of potash fertilizers exported to China in 2021 by 12.3% year on year to $247 per tonne, the company reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> On February 10, 2021, the Belarusian Potash Company reached an agreement with a consortium of Chinese buyers (Sinochem, CNAMPGC, CNOOC) to set the contract price of $247 per 1 tonne for the 2021 supplies scheduled for the period to December 31, 2021, reads the report. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the BPC, the agreement is the next logical step towards stability of the global potash market and a positive signal for further price increases in other regions. “The new contract with China, which follows the contract with India, lays a solid foundation for stable demand for potash fertilizers. The BPC thanks the consortium of Chinese buyers for cooperation, which makes it possible to respond to the current market situation and stimulates its further harmonious development. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the BPC lowered the price of potash fertilizers exported to China in 2020 by 24.1% to $220 per tonne. The price for Indian IPL in 2020 was set at $230 per tonne (down 17.8% from 2019), in 2021 – $247 per tonne (up 7.4% from 2020). </p> <p> </p> <p> President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko asked his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in January 2021 to increase the purchases of Belarusian potash fertilizers. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Belarusian Potash Company was established in 2013 as an exclusive exporter of potash fertilizers of Belarus. The company’s shares belong to Belaruskali OJSC (Soligorsk, Minsk Oblast), Belarusian Railway state-owned association, and Beleximgarant state-owned company.
